This film tells about the disappearance of a barely noticed world of work and a trade route - and of the alleged promise of a merman that has become a curse. The starting point is an inconspicuous hall in a remote industrial area in Upper Styria, not far from the Styrian Erzberg. From here, Cliff and Magnus have been operating their export business with used cars and spare parts for their home country, Nigeria, for seven years. The two are two of the faces behind the emblematic business cards that are stuck in countless Austrian cars in recent years.
The export business has become a gambling game in which Cliff must try to escape the cursed "promise" of the merman.
Starting with a microcosm, this film opens up unexpected perspectives on globalization, on the functioning of capitalism and on the relationship of the so-called First to the so-called Third World.
