FISA – Film Industry Support Austria is the subsidy programme by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs designated to the support of film productions. It aims to strengthen the economic framework of Austria‘s film industry as well as improve the industry‘s international competitiveness. The Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws) and FILM in AUSTRIA (formerly Location Austria), a department of the Austrian Business Agency (ABA), are responsible for the administration and handling of the grant.


Austria‘s Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW) is the sponsor of the FISA – Film Industry Support Austria grant.



Austria Wirtschaftsservice GmbH (aws) is Austria’s federal promotional bank for company-related financing. Small and medium-sized companies receive support in form of liabilities, soft loans, grants, equity capital financing, and consulting services.

The handling of FISA – Film Industry Support Austria is based in the department Entrepreneurship. Aws has overall responsibility for evaluating the pre-requisites for granting economic support as well as coordinating the administrative processing of the funding.



FILM in AUSTRIA (formerly Location Austria) is Austria’s national film commission designed to promote the country as a major location for international film and TV productions. FILM in AUSTRIA (formerly Location Austria) is the first point of contact for foreign production companies of movies, documentaries or commercials and offers a broad range of complimentary services before and during filming. FILM in AUSTRIA (formerly Location Austria) is a department of the ABA - Invest in Austria, the national investment promotion company.

FILM in AUSTRIA (formerly Location Austria) is responsible for carrying out the Cultural Test stipulated by the EU as well as evaluating general and film-specific aspects of the submitted projects, especially for service productions.
